The Muse News Review: Phil Cohen is at it again, Sharie looks on…

Greetings All,

I live a life of moment to moment reflection on the trance that is commonly known as “reality,” or “the world,” or that sort of thing. Labels reveal, and breed, assumptions, it doth seem. We think we know something because we have a label for it.

As a therapist, a role I played very well at times throughout the decades (in between escapades into higher learning, global travel, writing, breakdowns, and a free-spirited, vagabond lifestyle) I grew ever more deeply fascinated by the dance of denial we all play – notably with our self talk and habits.

When we see old friends, sometimes our habits become more obvious. This is a good thing – could free up some disk space.

Today I am in a humble lodge in an unfamiliar, small, Southern, textile-factory-type town. It’s quite cool out; the sun offers those long shadows of winter on this half moon day. The solstice grows near. The trees are bare. Life seems challenging for many who live around here. Cattle graze, fields are plowed, and I am guessing conversations rarely go toward the quest to find true love, self realization, or deep spiritual fulfillment. A Baptist culture abounds. The weather is often quite mild.

I am here to visit and catch up with a man of great dignity and passion, one who is now a growing success as an author. His work-a-day, war-in-the-workplace memoir is filled with true, daring, hair raising, and tender stories which may bring forth a full spectrum of emotions. He writes with a rich, lyrical, addicting style.

His true colors are shining, and I get to see it.

I respect this gentleman deeply; a thirty year friendship is taking a new tac and setting sail again. When people know you from back then, sometimes there is much to build upon when your new projects are shared and you trust one another enough to delight in this as well as to speak up about what’s real, and very personal, with bold intensity.

He is my friend Phil Cohen. His wild, infectious laugh comes easy. His sleep often does not. His love flows like your favorite poet at their very best. His muscle-up car might need to get buffed. He likes healthy food, yet does little more than giggle about the fact he does not know how to steam vegetables. Today, its showtime for Phil once again – he is off performing his brilliant Ninja powers with sharp wit before government bodies and corporate thugs. He does this with a grace such that everyone who witnesses is left in awe. No choice about it.

Good to be here.

Love always to you, My Dear.

Over and Out for Now.

“Approach” Hexagram 19 – no changing lines

(two unbroken lines at the base, four broken above)

“When you place yourself in a position to help another, you will discover your greater capabilities.

When you rise each day like spring = everyday is a flowering. This is a fortunate hexagram to receive with no lines changing. The message is that Approach is more than a momentary event for you. Your abilities and compassion have already led you into the service of others. There is an eternal flow of abundance at your disposal. Your positive attitude makes every day feel like spring. The only warning Approach offers is when you are not being approachable. Perhaps you have cut yourself off from communication in some way? A high level of focus is placed on reaching out to someone. If that is not an option or contact isn’t reciprocated then the message of quickening suggests allowing events to unfold naturally, like seeds beneath the earth at Springtime. Perhaps a period of waiting for Approach has allowed you to cultivate talent or a type of ‘inexhaustible teaching’ that puts you at service to others. Your day will come. Just keep being patient, present and willing to do what you can to nurture others.

Daily Affirmations

Sharie Camren

A day of peace inside

All is well. I breathe deep. I trust here now the power within my breathe, within the essence of life.

I am the space inside holding all that is, all that I am, and all that seems to be outside me, in arms of love, nurturance, warmth…in perfection without effort. One breath at a time.

There is no other time to open my heart. I open now. I soften all my limbs and allow the breath to enter without resistance.

I am that I am the peace that lies in trust. In Faith. In the willingness to not know and stay present anyway.

With my full heart beaming I greet all beings, all happenings, with awareness, grace, appreciation, respect, and joy.

I give all that I most deeply wish to receive: loving kindness, welcoming words, trusting thoughts, constant celebrations of the endless wisdom within all beings, with gratitude at every turn – every shift in the day and season, and every change of landscape if I travel.

So Be it and so it is. Now and Forever. Worlds Without end. Amen Amen Amen

Ask Sharie: My elderly mother is a big challenge for me. How can I move past the drama and anger and replay of disfunction?

I sometimes help take care of my mother, who needs help with daily tasks as her health is a challenge, fighting cancer. However, she is intermittently very angry and overall difficult to get along with, yelling and blaming and uncooperative. I feel caught in a vicious cycle when relating to her. I am angry too, and bitter, it is so difficult to take her fits and harsh words. How can I move past this? – J.M.”

Dear J. M.,

With open eyes, soften your gaze, as if to cross your eyes slightly, and look out just in front of you. Focus on your exhale, noticing your breath, only, as best you can, for a few minutes. Choose to be present for yourself within, and blow out all outer influences. Then, if you can, I recommend doing Wayne Cook’s posture, and other energy medicine routines for stress, as offered in Eden Energy Medicine videos free online.

Once you do the above meditation and energy medicines for yourself, then do again while thinking of your mother. Breathe and notice your bodily feelings as you visualize her, and consciously choose to be present for your thoughts and feelings, while attaching to none – just keep breathing. Invite yourself to expand and be bigger than all the thoughts and feelings.

Notice how she looks to you in your imagination. When you are ready, speak to her within, and do so as if you had an infinite well of compassion inside to offer, to both her and to yourself. Imagine the conversation going JUST the way you would most like it to go. Take as much time as needed to get this going in the direction that feels good.

If you are determined to be true to your spirit, you need not use anger to protect yourself, this is an imbalance in the energies.

Spend a little time each day for three days actively choosing how you want each interaction to go when you relate to her. Relax and allow the truth of your invincibility to surface as you relate to her in spirit, in your imagination, in conversation.

Trust that you create peaceful interactions and realign with yourself if you honor a balanced choreography of energy, so to speak. This is when you: determine with your spirit, give with the tenderness of your emotions, receive with your mind, and hold and transform with your body. Loving kindness can prevail inside, and out.

I am happy to help more specifically, and deeper, with sessions by phone if you like.

Let me know how it goes!

A way to knowledge, a way to peace

One morning, the sun shines differently.

Birds, crickets chatter, a cold wind dances… and yet

everything is new – something inside is – awake…

been long lost in dream – a dream ship like planet …

made of – what? Star dust. space. Nothing?

Take me all, awake in this moment. I see the sunrise through the snow and wind.

I am that, I am. I am the wind, the water, the wondering one, slumbering one,

oddly longing…. living and yet – not living, until

Because now I am awake.
